PostMyGig - Freelance Gig Sharing Platform

About the Project

• Built a platform where freelancers can post extra work they can’t handle and other freelancers can discover and take those gigs.
• I designed the full flow where a freelancer posts a gig, other users browse and apply, and the owner can shortlist and connect with them.
• I built a real-time chat system using WebSockets (Socket.IO) with a separate Node.js backend, allowing freelancers to communicate instantly.
• I handled chat events, connections, and messaging flow between users in real time.
• I built a Community and Activity feature to show platform activity like users posting gigs, hiring, and interacting, helping build trust and engagement.
• I implemented email notifications using Resend for user actions like applications and interactions.
• I developed both frontend and backend using Next.js and Node.js, and designed database structure using MongoDB.
• I used Redis to improve performance and speed up frequently accessed data.
• Worked across the full stack to connect gig posting, real-time chat, activity tracking, and notifications into a single platform.
